echt

je kwam toen er niets meer was van waarde
al leek de tijd te vroeg waardoor fragiel
ik viel en viel breekbaar jij nam mijn ziel
maar al snel bleek onze band ter aarde

totdat een toeval ons lot vergaarde
wat vrijwel geen ander terstond beviel
al bleek waarom wij ons eeuwig zo viel
waardoor alles ondanks dat bedaarde

we zijn elkaar zo nu al jaren kwijt
en hebben soms zelfs ook geluk gezien
al was dat ongemerkt een zware strijd

maar wat nu later voor ons allen pleit
al zal je het misschien wat anders zien
is dat erkenning ons bevrijdt altijd

Post covid

I am not a specialist in anything, I have always chosen to know as much as possible of as many fields possible and therefore I know a bit about many things, but never a lot about any single subject. But I am a curious George who always tries to get to know as much he can on issues that seem to matter.

Euro2000 final

Spaghetti alla carrettiera (alla Fiorentina)

The lorry driver’s dish would be different in every region or country and I guess that is exactly why every region, every city even, in Italy has a pasta alla carrettiera that is completely different depending on where you are! A carrettiere is a driver and the spaghetti alla carrettiera is they serve it in Florence is one of my favorite dishes around.

Upgrade Debian based system

We want to upgrade Linux Mint 18.2 to version 20, and we don’t want to go through 3 upgrades to get it done. Instead we will make a proper inventory of the current system, back up all the stuff we want to keep and install Mint 20 from scratch. This approach should work fine for all Debian based systems.

If you want the possibility to get back to your previous system, make sure to make a full backup and keep it safe somewhere, but in most cases it’s best to move to current affairs and deal with possible trouble by fixing the issues in the new system.

Installing Debian sid (unstable)

There are no installation images for sid, but we can choose either stable or a daily built (testing). If you are absolutely certain that you will have connection to the internet while installing, i.e. in VirtualBox, with a cable or with the correct firmware available for wifi, you should use the netinstall image, otherwise a cd image that will give you the base system that will allow you to work and get online.
